He is a graduate from the University of Havana medical school. Former president of the medical staff of Queen of Angeles Hospital and Santa Marta Hospital, Los Angeles, California . He is also a member of the medical staff of the Saint Vincent Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital. Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery of the, California College of Medicine - Irvine. He is founder and former Chairman of Los Angeles National Bank. He was Chairman and Member of Board of Regent of University of California. He was Chairman and Member of the Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service. He is a Former delegate to the United States Delegation to the 22nd Conference UNESCO. Former Chairman of the California Republican Party 1980 and again in 1993 and national chair of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly in the mid-1980s. Delegate to the Republican National Convention 1968, 1972, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004. Former Captain United States Army and Chief of Surgery of Camp Hanford Army Hospital.
