Who is Véronique Marot?

Marie-Véronique Antoinette Colette Jeannine Marot is a former elite long distance runner from England, and a past winner of the London Marathon.

Marot became a British citizen in 1983, and first broke the British record in the 1985 Chicago Marathon. She won the 1989 London Marathon in 2.25.56, a time which stood as a British record for 13 years until beaten by Paula Radcliffe in 2002, and remains third on the UK all-time rankings.

She is also a triple winner of the Houston Marathon, and double winner of the Around the Bay Road Race in Ontario. Marot finished 16th in the 1992 Olympic marathon.

She is president of Leeds City AC.
