Visravas
Male, Person
Who is Visravas?
Visravas is the mythological son of Prajapati Pulastya in Hinduism, and according to the Mahabharata, he is a reproduction of half Pulastya himself & the brother of Maharshi Agastya.
Visravas had two wives, one was Ilavida and the other wife was Kaikesi, the Asura Princess, for whom Visravas left Ilavida.
Visravas had a son, Kubera, from his first wife Ilavida, and through Kaikesi, he fathered another four children, Ravana, Vibhishana, Kumbakarna and Soorpanaka.
Kubera became the King of Lanka. When Ravana invaded Lanka and usurped his elder brother Kubera's throne, a disgusted Vishrava left his demonic family and returned to Ilavida, never to see Kaikesi or her children ever again.
Kubera fled to Devaloka where he was charged by Indra, the King of the Devas, to manage his treasury. Thus Kubera is best known to Hindus, not as former King of Lanka, but as God of Wealth.
