Who is Werner Kurz?

Werner Kurz is a Canadian research scientist at the Canadian Forest Service. He leads the development of a National Forest Carbon Accounting System for Canada. His research focuses on the impacts of natural disturbances, forest management and land-use change on forest carbon budgets. Kurz holds a PhD in forest ecology from the University of British Columbia. He has made significant contributions to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the work of the IPCC was recognised by the joint award of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
