Who was Wilfred Hudleston Hudleston?

Wilfred Hudleston Hudleston FRS was a British geologist. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1884. He was the president of the Geological Society of London from 1892 to 1894. In 1906 he funded the construction of what became the Dove Marine Laboratory, now part of the University of Newcastle, after the original site had been destroyed by fire.

He was the son of John Simpson and his wife Elizabeth Ward, daughter of Thomas Ward and Eleanor Hudleston.
