Who was William Conelan?
William Patrick Conelan was an Australian politician. Born in Wadmaninga, South Australia, he received a primary education before becoming a tailor's cutter and draper. He was involved in local politics as a member of Brisbane City Council, having moved from South Australia to Queensland. At the 1939 by-election, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Labor member for Griffith. He held the seat until his defeat in 1949. Conelan died in 1983.
