Who is William D. Gagliani?

W.D. Gagliani of Oak Creek, WI, is an American author of Italian descent, born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He grew up in Genova, Italy, returning to the U.S. in 1967. His work has spanned the horror, thriller, noir crime, mystery and adventure fields in fiction, and he has written numerous book reviews, articles, and interviews in nonfiction, also spanning the genres. Having earned a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, he also taught composition and creative writing at the college level.

His fiction has won the 1999 Darrell Award of the Memphis Science Fiction Association, several 2nd and 3rd Place prizes in the Science Fiction Writers Of Earth annual contests, and garnered six Honorable Mentions in The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror annual collections. In addition, his novel Wolf's Trap was a Finalist for the 2004 Bram Stoker Award.

Gagliani is the author of numerous book reviews, articles, interviews, and short stories that have appeared in publications including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Cemetery Dance, Chizine/Chiaroscuro, HorrorWorld, Hellnotes, Paperback Parade, Flesh & Blood, Crimespree, BookPage, Booklovers, Scream Factory, Bare Bones, Horror Magazine, and others. His article on writing werewolf sagas appeared in the October 2011 issue of The Writer magazine, and his essay on Wilbur Smith's novel When the Lion Feeds was included in the nonfiction book THRILLERS: The 100 Must Reads, edited by David Morrell and Hank Wagner. Collaborative short stories have appeared in the anthologies SNAFU: An Anthology of Military Horror, Zippered Flesh 2, Dark Passions: Hot Blood 13, Malpractice: An Anthology of Bedside Terror, and Masters of Unreality, as well as The Horror Zine, Dead Lines, and Splatterpunk Magazine. His solo fiction has been included in anthologies such as Robert Bloch's Psychos, More Monsters from Memphis, Undead Tales, Wicked Karnival Halloween Horror, The Asylum Volume 2: The Violent Ward, The Black Spiral: Twisted Tales of Terror, Small Bites, The Midnighters Club, Extremes 3: Terror on the High Seas, Extremes 4: Darkest Africa, and others. He is also the author of Shadowplays. His story "The Great Belzoni and the Gait of Anubis" is available in various ebook editions, and the story "Starbird" is part of Amazon's Story Front program. Another collaboration with author and musician David Benton, "Voracious in Vegas," is a "Vampire Diaries" tie-in and part of Amazon's Kindle Worlds program.
