William E. Peck was born in New York City, New York, on September 13, 1849. He is the founder of Pomfret School in Pomfret, Connecticut, a small boarding school. Peck founded the school in 1894 with his wife Harriet Jones Peck; prior to that, from 1883 to 1894 he served as headmaster of St. Mark's School in Southborough, Massachusetts.William died at Pomfret School for Boys on January 7,1897.
