Who was William F. McNagny?

William Forgy McNagny was a U.S. Representative from Indiana.

Born in Talmadge, Ohio, McNagny moved in early life to Whitley County, Indiana. He attended the public schools and the Springfield Academy, South Whitley, Indiana. He taught school. He worked on his father's farm for six years. Station agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad Co. at Larwill, Indiana from 1868 to 1875. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1875 and commenced practice in Columbia City, Indiana.

McNagny was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third Congress. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1894 to the Fifty-fourth Congress. He resumed the practice of law in Columbia City, Indiana, and died there August 24, 1923. He was interred in Masonic Cemetery.
