Who is William H. "Bill" Stone?

Bill Stone is member of the Mississippi State Senate representing Senate District 2, Benton, Marshall and Tippah counties.

Prior to being elected Senator, Stone was twice elected Mayor of Ashland, Mississippi, serving for 6½ years. Stone is a Democrat and defeated incumbent Republican Senator Ralph H. Doxey in the November, 2007 General Election and was reelected in 2011. Stone's committee assignments include: Municipalities; Business and Financial Institutions; Constitution; County Affairs; Finance; Forestry; Executive Contingency Fund; Public Property; Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

As Mayor of Ashland, Stone served on the Mississippi Municipal League Board of Directors, Vice-Chairman of the Municipal Gas Authority of Mississippi, Chairman of the North Mississippi Mayors Association and continues to serve on the Commission on the Future of Northeast Mississippi.

Stone is married to the former Debbie Samples of Ashland and they have three children, Jessi Shoup, Will and Adam, and four grandchildren.
