Who is William H. Sinclair?
Col. William H. Sinclair was a president of the Galveston street car company. In 1882, he led the effort to build the Beach Hotel in Galveston in an attempt to increase tourism in the city. Designed by architect Nicholas J. Clayton, the hotel cost nearly $260,000, had 200 rooms and 18-foot-wide verandas.
