Who was William III of Mâcon?
William IV of Burgundy was count of Mâcon, count of Auxonne, count of Vienne then regent of the county of Burgundy. He was the son of Stephen I, Count of Burgundy and of Béatrice of Louvain. He attempted to abduct his niece Béatrice of Burgundy, daughter of Renaud III, but emperor Frederick Barbarossa prevented him and married her in 1156.
William married Poncette de Traves and had the following issue:
Stephen II, count of Auxonne who married Judith, daughter of Matthias I, Duke of Lorraine and had issue.
Géraud I of Mâcon, who married Maurette de Salins, Countess of Vienna and had issue.
