Who was William Percival Gray?

William Percival Gray was a United States federal judge.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Gray received an A.B. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1934 and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1939. He was a law clerk, Hon. Harold M. Stephens, U.S. Court of Appeals, D.C. Circuit from 1939 to 1940. He was in private practice in Los Angeles, California from 1940 to 1941. He was in the United States Army Lieutenant Colonel from 1941 to 1945. He was in private practice in Los Angeles, California from 1945 to 1966. He was a Special assistant to U.S. attorney general from 1958 to 1964.

Gray was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. Gray was nominated by President Lyndon B. Johnson on June 13, 1966, to a seat vacated by Harry C. Westover. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 29, 1966, and received his commission on July 2, 1966. Gray served in that capacity until September 18, 1966, due to assignment to another court.

Gray was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He was reassigned on September 18, 1966; Assumed senior status on March 26, 1982.
