Who is William Stourton?
William Stourton was a Speaker of the House of Commons of England from May 1413 to June 1413 when he represented the constituency of Dorset.
He was born the son and heir of John Stourton of Stourton, Wiltshire.
He was knight of the shire in Parliament for Somerset in 1401, 1402 and Jan 1404, Wiltshire in 1407 and Dorset in 1410 and again in May 1413, when he was elected Speaker of the House of Commons of England.
After his death he was buried in Witham Priory. He had married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Moigne; they had a son, John, who was raised to the peerage as the first Lord Stourton, and a daughter.
