Who is William Van Alstyne?
William Warner Van Alstyne is an American lawyer, law professor, and constitutional law scholar. He currently holds the named position of Lee Professor of Law at William and Mary Law School.
Van Alstyne received his Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy magna cum laude from the University of Southern California. He received his Juris Doctor law degree from Stanford Law School.
Van Alstyne's body of work includes many books, law journal articles, and congressional committee testimony. In 1994, he was elected into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. An article in the January 2000 Journal of Legal Studies found that Van Alstyne was among the top 40 legal scholars in the United States in number of academic citations. His work has also been cited by courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States.
