Who is Agnes Bolsø?
Agnes Bolsø is a Norwegian sociologist and expert on gender studies, particularly studies of sexuality. She is Associate Professor of Sociology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and was director of its Centre for Gender Studies from 2005 to 2007. She was editor of Tidsskrift for kjønnsforskning from 2009 to 2011.
Bolsø holds a cand.mag. degree from the University of Trondheim, a cand.polit. degree in sociology and a dr.polit. degree from 2002. She was researcher at the Centre for Rural Research from 1987 to 1994, and has been employed at NTNU since 1994, where she became Associate Professor in 2001. She has been a visiting scholar at the University of Minneapolis, the University of York, the University of London and the University of New South Wales. She is also a regular commentator on gender issues in Norwegian media, and has been an op-ed columnist for Klassekampen and other publications.
