Who was Alexander Davies?
Father of Mary Davies who held the lands which became the Grovsvenor Estate in London. He died in the Plague leaving his daughter, Mary Davies, only 6 months old and heir to his fortune. Davies left considerable debts however, and his widow married again and they subsequently sold smaller portions of land including the area now occupied by Buckingham Palace.
