Who was Alfred Philippi?
Alfred Philippi was a highly decorated Generalmajor in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
Prior WWII:
1928 Aug 1: Entered the army as a Lieutenant, assigned to the 11th Infantry Regiment..
1938 Oct 1: Served as a adjutant officer in the 73rd Infantry Regiment .
WWII:
1939 Dec 1: Became an Ordinance Officer with the 211 Infantry Div.
1940 Apr 8: Became an Operations Abtl. on the General Staff d. Heer.
1942 Apr 1: Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
1942 May 1: Assigned to the Ia with the 111st Infantry Div.
1942 Dec 1: Promoted to Colonel; Ia, with the 306th Infantry Div.
1943 Feb 1: Assigned as Fuhr. Kpf. Gr. 304th Infantry Div.
1943 March 1: Assigned to Grenadier-Regiment 535.
1944 May 14: awarded the "Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross".
1944 July-Aug: Assigned to the ''Fuhr. Lehrgang'' Division.
1944 Sept 1: Assigned to the 361 Volksgrenadier Division.
