Who is Alfred Stingl?
Alfred Stingl ist ein österreichischer Politiker und war von 1985 bis 2003 Bürgermeister der Stadt Graz.
1968 wurde er zum ersten Mal in den Grazer Gemeinderat gewählt, 1973 in den Stadtsenat. Besondere Verdienste errang er sich als Jugendstadtrat. Von 1983 bis 1985 war er Vizebürgermeister von Graz. Am 10. Jänner 1985 wurde er zum Bürgermeister gewählt. 2003 folgte ihm Siegfried Nagl in dieses Amt nach. Alfred Stingl ist Präsident der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Natur- und Umweltschutz und er ist Ehrensenator der Technischen Universität Graz. Seit Jahresbeginn 2004 ist Stingl ehrenamtlich als Sozial-Ombudsmann für die Aktion Von Mensch zu Mensch der Gratis-Wochenzeitung WOCHE Graz tätig.
