Who is Ambrose Macdonald Poynter?

Sir Ambrose Macdonald Poynter was a London-based calligrapher, artist and architect. He was eldest son of Sir Edward John Poynter, an artist and President of the Royal Academy, and grandson of Ambrose Poynter, also a notable architect and illustrator. His mother was Agnes, one of the famed Macdonald sisters, through whom he was cousin to Rudyard Kipling and Stanley Baldwin. Born at 24 Gower Street, Bloomsbury, London, he built the Torre Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1916 and from his teens produced a number of drawings, some of which are now located in the British Museum.
