Who is Andriy Kalyna?

Andriy Kalyna is a paralympic swimmer from Ukraine competing mainly in category SB8 events.

Andriy has won medals as two Paralympic games, firstly in 2004 then in 2008. In 2004 he won gold in the 100m breaststroke in a new world record time, he won silver in the 200m individual medley behind Australian Matthew Cowdrey's world record swim. He also finished fourth in the 50 and 100m freestyle, he was also part of the Ukrainian 4 x 100m freestyle team that failed to make it to the final having finished fifth in the heats and the team that finished sixth in the 4 x 100m medley final. In the 2008 games he repeated his medals, again setting a new world record in winning the 100m breastroke and finishing in silver behind Matthew Cowdrey who also broke the world record but this time added a bronze in the 4 x 100m medley, he also swam in 50m freestyle finishing sixth, 100m freestyle finishing fourth and 100m butterfly where he finished fifth.
