Who is Angus Macpherson?

Angus Macpherson is the Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire. He is the first person to hold the post and was elected on 15 November 2012. The election was noted for having the lowest turnout of all the elections held that day, with just under 16% of registered voters casting a ballot, unofficial counting showed only a 10% turnout in Devizes. Wiltshire was also the only county to return an overnight result. Macpherson secured 36% of the initial vote, and won the election with second preference votes.

Angus Macpherson previously served on Wiltshire Police Authority for 7 years prior to his election as PCC. He assumed his role overseeing Wiltshire Police on 22 November 2012 and his first Police and Crime Plan was published in March in 2013.

He was educated at St Hugh's School, nr Faringdon and Dauntsey's School. West Lavington where he is now a Governor. On leaving school he worked for Hoover Limited in London, as a management trainee and obtained a degree in Business Studies. In 1976 he joined Turquand Barton Mayhew, later to become part of Ernst & Young, as an articles clerk, qualifying as Chartered Accountant in 1980.
