Who is Arsenio Balisacan?

Arsenio M. Balisacan is a Filipino Economist and academic who currently serves as the Philippines' Secretary of Socioeconomic Planning under the administration of President Benigno S. Aquino III. In that capacity, he been Director General of the National Economic and Development Authority since May 10, 2012. Concurrently, he serves as Chairman of the Boards of the Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine Institute for Development Studies, Philippine Center for Economic Development, and Public-Private Partnership Center.

Prior to his Cabinet appointment, he was Professor and Dean of University of the Philippines School of Economics and concurrently Executive Director of the Philippine Center for Economic Development.

A degree holder of PhD in Economics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, he has been an Academician of the National Academy of Science and Technology since 2008 and an Adjunct Professor at the Australian National University since 2011.
