Who was Art Shires?

Charles Arthur Shires was an American professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a first baseman for the Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators and Boston Braves. Shires was a colorful personality with a penchant for self-praise, earning himself the nickname, Arthur The Great Shires.
