Who is Arthur Büssecke?

Arthur Büssecke was a highly decorated Oberleutnant der Reserve in the Luftwaffe during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Büssecke was captured by Russian troops in May 1945, he escaped only to be captured by American troops. He was released in June 1945.
