Who is Arthur W Zafiropoulo?

Arthur W. Zafiropoulo founded Ultratech in September 1992 to acquire certain assets and liabilities of the Ultratech Stepper Division of General Signal Technology Corporation and, since March 1993, has served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Additionally, Zafiropoulo served as President of Ultratech from March 1993 to March 1996, from May 1997 until April 1999 and from April 2001 to January 2004. Since October 2006, Zafiropoulo has also served as Ultratech’s President and Chief Operating Officer. Between September 1990 and March 1993, he was President of the Ultratech Stepper Division. From February 1989 to September 1990, Zafiropoulo was President of General Signal’s Semiconductor Equipment Group International, a semiconductor equipment company. From August 1980 to February 1989, Zafiropoulo was President and Chief Executive Officer of Drytek, Inc., a plasma dry-etch company that he founded in August 1980, and which was later sold to General Signal in 1986. From July 1987 to September 1989, Zafiropoulo was also President of Kayex, a semiconductor equipment manufacturer, which was a unit of General Signal. From July 2001 to July 2002, Zafiropoulo served as Vice Chairman of SEMI, an international trade association representing the semiconductor, flat panel display equipment and materials industry. From July 2002 to June 2003, Zafiropoulo served as Chairman of SEMI, and Zafiropoulo was on the board of directors of SEMI from July 1995 to December 2007. In December 2007, Zafiropoulo was elected as Director Emeritus of SEMI. In 2011, he gave $2.5 million to establish an endowed chair in the College of Engineering at Northeastern University, which he attended in the 1960s.
