Who was Arun Sarnaik?
Arun Sarnaik was an actor and singer from Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. He entered the acting profession in 1956 as a Stage actor. In 1961 he made his film debut with the movie Shahir Parshuram. He subsequently had lead roles in many Marathi movies starting in the black-and-white film era, and later color.
Arun Sarnaik was also an accomplished Tabla and Harmonium player. He also was very active with the Anandagram Charitable institution. He was the son of the famous singer "Maharashtrakokil" Shankarao Sarnaik and cousine brother of famous classical singer"pandit Nivaruttibua Sarnaik".
Arun Sarnaik died in a tragic road accident on June 21st 1984 along with his wife and one of his two children. After having wrapped up the shooting of the movie Pandharichi Vaari, Sarnaik was traveling on the Pune-Kolhapur road when his car crashed.
