Carl Unander-Scharin

Who is Carl Unander-Scharin?

Carl Unander-Scharin is a Swedish composer and operatic tenor. Born in Stockholm, he studied in his native city at the Royal College of Music and the University College of Opera, Stockholm. Since 2000 he has been a resident artist at the Royal Swedish Opera where he has sung the roles of Count Almaviva in Gioachino Rossini's The Barber of Seville, Gonzalve in Maurice Ravel's L'heure espagnole, Raoul de Gardefeu in Jacques Offenbach's La vie parisienne, and Tamino in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute among other parts. As a concert singer he is particularly known for performances of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

As a composer, Unander-Scharin has produced a wide array of works from operas and oratorios to chamber music and electronic music. Several of his operas have been staged by the Royal Swedish Opera.
