Who was Charles B. Black?

Charles Bradford "Charlie" Black Jr. also known as Hawk was an American basketball player.

He played collegiately as a forward for the University of Kansas where he was a four-time first-team All-American. Black also became the first player in KU history to score 1,000 points for his career. He was a member of the Jayhawks' 1943 Big 6 conference championship team that is regarded as one of the greatest teams in KU's basketball history.

He played for the Indianapolis Jets, Fort Wayne Pistons, Anderson Packers and Milwaukee Hawks in the NBA for 136 games.
