Who is Corey Stewart?
Corey Stewart is an American politician who is the current chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He was a candidate for the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor in the 2013 election.
Stewart was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2003, representing the Occoquan district. He was elected as chairman with 53% of the vote in a special election held on November 7, 2006, replacing Sean Connaughton. He was reelected to a full four-year term on Nov. 6, 2007 with 55% of the vote, and won his second full four-year term on Nov. 8, 2011 with 58% of the vote against two candidates.
Stewart is an international trade attorney in private practice. He earned his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Chairman Stewart received his Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
Stewart and his family reside at the historic Bel Air Plantation in Woodbridge, Virginia.
