Who was Coslett Ó Cuinn?
The Rev. Canon Coslett Quinn, in Irish Coslett Ó Cuinn was a priest of the Church of Ireland who translated the New Testament into Irish.
Quinn graduated from Trinity College, Dublin, in theology in 1940. He was a poet, theologian, critic, biblical scholar, and member of the ecumenical movement. He was appointed professor of Biblical Greek at Trinity College in 1961, and began work on a new translation of the New Testament. He also translated the Book of Psalms and the Prayer Book of the Church of Ireland into Irish, as well as Brian Merriman's poem The Midnight Court and several Spanish works.
