Dan Roberts

Who is Dan Roberts?

Dan Roberts is the Director of Marketing for the core Solaris

Operating System, Sun's contribution to the OpenSolaris Community, and

Database Marketing. He leads the team of professional product marketing

and management specialists covering core Solaris Operating System

technologies including the kernel, DTrace, predictive self-healing,

networking, system management and desktop services. He is also

responsible for the Solaris developer initiatives including Solaris

Express Developer Edition, Sun's supported distribution of OpenSolaris

community based code.A firm believer in open development and

open technologies, Dan has the pleasure to work with the Sun team

contributing to the OpenSolaris community on a variety of projects,

most recently Project Indiana. Additionally, Dan leads the growing team

Sun database experts workingto build Sun's contribution to the

PostreSQL and Derby communities, and proving the Solaris OS is the best

operating system for running database loads.Dan has been at Sun

8 years, most recently as the Director of Marketing for Developer Tools

and Emerging Internet Technologies. He has held various marketing

leadership roles covering most of Sun's Developer initiatives including

the Web 2.0 technologies team, SunStudio, Java Studio, Project Rave,

and NetBeans. Dan joined Sun aspart of the Forte Software acquisition

where he worked in the Marketing Programs group.
