Who is Daniel Dickey?

Daniel Dickey is a published writer, photographer, and educator. He has been featured on MTV's True Life and writes a blog for the New Times Broward-Palm Beach weekly paper. Several of his political/humor articles have been published in Top 50 newspapers; most notably, opinion pieces in the Sun Sentinel and Hartford Courant. His opinion editorial championing the importance of education was used to lobby the Florida Senate against statewide budget cuts and his letter to the editor of the Gainesville Sun stressed our country's need for equal rights. In December 2013, Dickey wrote an opinion piece challenging consumerism that quickly went viral—with over 6,500 social shares in a 24-hour period. Still active in the arts, a one-act play penned by Dickey, Don't Forget to Floss, was produced and recently premiered in New York's West Village.

With support of several community leaders, Dickey announced his candidacy for Weston, Florida City Commissioner in the November 2012 elections. Local media highlighted that despite losing the election, Dickey, only 25-years-old at the time, gained 42% of the vote while spending under $425.00.
