Who is Daniele Tirabassi?

Daniele Tirabassi is a Venezuelan swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a multiple-time Venezuelan champion and record holder for both individual and relay freestyle events. He also won two medals, silver and bronze, in the 200 and 400 m freestyle at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.

Tirabassi qualified for the men's 400 m freestyle at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by clearing a FINA B-standard entry time of 3:52.69 from the Latin Cup in Serravalle, San Marino. He challenged four other swimmers on the first heat, including three-time Olympian Květoslav Svoboda of the Czech Republic. He raced to second place by nearly three seconds behind Norway's Gard Kvale in 3:53.26. Tirabassi failed to advance into the final, as he placed thirty-first overall on the first night of the preliminary heats.

At the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy, Tirabassi set a Venezuelan record of 1:48.51 to touch the wall first on the tenth heat of the 200 m freestyle.
