Who is David Ash?

David Trenton Ash is an American football quarterback for the University of Texas Longhorns football team. As a high school player, Ash played for Belton High School as both a punter and quarterback for three seasons, leading his team to an 18–15 record in those three years. In 2010, Ash was named both the all–state second team quarterback and all–state first team punter.

Ash committed to Texas early in 2010 as a third–string quarterback, but was put into action early in the 2011 season alongside Case McCoy at quarterback after Garrett Gilbert transferred to Southern Methodist University. As a result Ash played in all games during the season and led his team to an 8–5 record, which included the 2011 Holiday Bowl where he was given offensive MVP honors. After a quarterback battle for the starting job against Case McCoy, it was announced that Ash won the starting position.
