Who was Diego González Holguín?

Diego González Holguín was a Spanish Jesuit priest, researcher of the Quechua language during the times of the Viceroyalty of Peru.

Arrived to Peru as missionary in 1581 and studied during 25 years the Quechua language in the city of Cusco. By 1607 published in Lima his Grammar and arts of the general language of Peru, a year later the Vocabulary of the general language of the entire Peru, the first dictionary of the Quechua of Cusco. According with the numbers registered by Domingo de Santo Tomás it was the second most important work about the Quechua language.
