Who is Drew Cumberland?
Andrew L. Cumberland is a professional baseball infielder in the San Diego Padres organization.
The Padres drafted Cumberland in the supplemental first round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft. He was chosen to represent the United States in the 2010 All-Star Futures Game.
Cumberland missed the entire 2011 season with concussion symptoms. After considering retirement, Cumberland received permission to continue playing from doctors, and he plans to make a comeback in the 2012 season. The Padres did not protect him on their 40 man roster prior to the 2011 Rule 5 draft, but he was not chosen in the draft. Drew Cumberland never recovered from his concussion, and retired in March of 2012.
