Who is Dávid Novák?
Dávid Novák was an Hungarian Slovene student and poet. Novák is the author of the first poem in the Prekmurian language from 1771.
Born in Sümeg into an evangelic family, he studied in the Bratislava Lyceum, where as usual the students wrote in their mother tongue. Novák's poem was the Versus Vandalici. In the poem the Battle of Saint Gotthard is also mentioned.
