Who is Edward Mazurek?

Edward 'Coach' J. Mazurek is an American politician from Maine. Mazurek is a Democratic State Senator from Maine's 22nd District, representing much of Knox County, including Thomaston and his residence in Rockland.

Mazurek earned a BSBA from Xavier University in 1960 and a MA from Fairfield University in 1968. He was drafted by the New York Football Giants in the 15th round of the 1959 draft. He was cut from the team before the preseason, but signed on as a free agent and spent the entire 1960 season with New York.

He was first elected to office in 2002, when he won a seat on the Rockland City Council. He was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2004 and was unable to run for re-election in 2012 due to term-limits. In 2012, he was elected to the Maine Senate, replacing Republican Chris Rector. In February 2014, Mazurek announced he would not seek re-election.
