Who was George Chatterton?
George Chatterton was an English cricketer. He was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, and played eleven matches for Yorkshire, in its pre-county club incarnation, from 1849 to 1855. He also appeared for MCC from 1851 to 1861 in twenty three games and represented the North in thirteen fixtures, as well as playing in other first-class cricket games. A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm slow underarm bowler, he scored 1,611 first-class runs with a best of 109, his only century, and took 25 wickets at 13.45, with his best return of 7 for 21 against Kent.
Chatterton died in 1881 in Sheffield.
