Who is George Hayes?
George Hayes has over thirty years of media and marketing experience,
primarily with McCann Worldgroup, the global marketing communications
company based in New York. There he rose from media planner, when he
joined in 1975, to Executive Vice President of Universal McCann, when
he left in 2006. George has advised some of McCann’s largest global
clients, such as Nestlé, Sony and Coca-Cola, in their media strategy
and implementation. He was instrumental in transforming the local
broadcast buying department at McCann into LCI, a separate media buying
company. Under his management, LCI grew to be one of the largest local
broadcast buying operations in the country. George is a recognized
expert in his field. He was named a “Media Maven” by Advertising Age
and received an Effie, the advertising industry’s award for marketing
effectiveness, for his work on revitalizing Six Flags national
marketing campaign. He has spoken to audiences at the American
Marketing Association, Yale University and many major conferences
around the world, from Mexico City to Milan. He has been quoted in
major publications such as the New York Times, Advertising Age, USA
Today and Business Week. George began his career at J. Walter Thompson
upon graduation from Georgetown University.
