Who was George Reay?
George Thompson Reay, was an English professional footballer who played for several British football teams during the 1920s and 1930s. After beginning his football career playing for his local colliery in the north-east of England, George went on to play for a number of established football clubs and also made some guest appearances with local teams, before retiring from the sport shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War. After retirement, he spent the rest of his life in Northamptonshire, England where he was employed as a steelworker. George's youngest brother, Ted Reay, played for Sheffield United and Queens Park Rangers.
