Who is Golden Frinks?
Golden Asro Frinks was a civil rights activist who was a Southern Christian Leadership Conference field secretary, representing the New Bern, North Carolina SCLC chapter. He was the principal civil rights organizer in North Carolina in the 1960s. Frinks is a nightclub owner by profession. He possessed a charismatic personality and spoke with questionable grammar.
Among his many activities, beginning in June 1963, civil rights activists led by Frinks protested at Williamston, North Carolina City Hall for 29 consecutive days.
As a resident of Edenton, North Carolina, Frinks became aware of the unlawful dumping of PCBs. Through his friendship with Floyd McKissick he got involved in the issue of illegal waste dumping in Warren County, North Carolina.
