Who is Grytsje Kingma?

Grytsje Kingma-Zantema is a Frisian singer.

Kingma grew up in Kimswert, the youngest daughter of the headmaster and employee of the Afuk, Adam Zantema. The family moved to Franeker when she was twelve. She subsequently lived in Baarn and Leeuwarden, and with her husband in Grouw and Kollum. Currently she resides in Sintjohannesga.

Kingma began to play the guitar when she was 14, because she wanted to accompany her own singing. She later played and sang with various groups. After her studies at Simon Vestdyk in Baarn in institutional work, with specialties in music, she was activities leader at a day care center for people with comprehension disabilities in Redezum. At 25, household and job in order, she took up the musical thread again.
