Who is Haim Gaifman?

Haim Gaifman is a mathematician and philosopher at Columbia University. He received his Ph.D. under Alfred Tarski. He worked on a broad spectrum in mathematical logic, foundations of probability, as well as theoretical computer science and the philosophy of language. Before moving to Columbia in 1990, he was professor of mathematics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he also directed the program in History and Philosophy of Science.

Gaifman's recent work include logical systems that formalize aspects of natural reasoning, phenomena of self-reference, metaphysical realism, philosophy of logic, philosophy of mathematics, Frege, Russell, and the early Wittgenstein.
