Who was Hans-Georg Schierholz?

Hans-Georg Schierholz was a radio/radar operator and Oberfeldwebel in the Luftwaffe during World War II, and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.

As a Bordfunker in the night fighter force he flew on 212 combat missions, supported in 57 aerial victories, and bailed out four times. He served in the crews of Oberfeldwebel Rudolf Frank and Major Werner Husemann, the Gruppenkommandeur of I. Gruppe of Nachtjagdgeschwader 3.
