Who is Hans Rütimann?
Hans Rutimann is Senior Advisor at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
He is president of the Engineering Information Foundation. Previously, he was director of International Development at the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) and international program officer at the Commission on Preservation and Access (CPA) from 1988-1999.
From 1965 to 1988 he was with the Modern Language Association of America, where he became deputy executive director and treasurer, primarily responsible for the development of electronic reference tools for the humanities. He also taught at Columbia University in the mid-80s on the impact of technology on scholarly communication.
Mr. Rutimann was educated in Switzerland and graduated from the University of Zurich in German Philology before emigrating to the US in 1965.
