Who was Harvey Pirie?
Dr James Hunter Harvey Pirie was a medical doctor and bacteriologist. Pirie named the bacterial genus Listeria in honor of Joseph Lister and the Pirie Peninsula is named after him. Cape Mabel was named after his wife.
