Who was Heinrich Ochs?
Heinrich Ochs was a highly decorated Oberleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Heinrich Ochs was killed on 12 October 1943 by artillery fire. He was posthumously promoted to Oberleutnant and awarded the Oak Leaves to his Knight's Cross.
