Who was Henry Lynde?

Sir Henry Lynde was an English lawyer and politician who sat in the House of Commons in 1626.

Lynde was the son of Cuthbert Lynde or Lyne of Westminster. He was educated at Westminster School and matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford in January 1597, aged 17. He was awarded BA on 7 July 1600 and entered the Middle Temple in 1601. He was probably called to the bar in about 1605. He was knighted on 24 or 29 October 1613. In 1626, he was elected Member of Parliament for Brecon after Sir Walter Pye chise to sit instead for Herefordsire. Lynde was described as an eminently learned man, and a zealous puritan.

Lynde died at the age of about 56 and was buried in the chancel of Cobham Church on 14 June 1636.
